Breath-taking views of Glasgow and the River Clyde, excellent hill-walking trails and a variety of mountain bike tracks are all right on your doorstep on the Kilpatrick Hills when you stay at Gavinburn Cottages. Don’t forget we’re situated only 15 minutes from Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. We can arrange bike hire and have secure storage for your own bikes and a dedicated washing area for muddy boots, bikes and the kids!

If you would rather head to the city, than the great outdoors, our self catering cottages are only 15 minutes from shopping, dining or socialising heaven in Glasgow City Centre. There’s also Kilpatrick train station located less than a mile away, and for the real jet setters, Glasgow Airport is only 10 minutes across the Erskine Bridge.

Preparing for a big night out, special event, wedding or just want pampered? The team at Gavinburn Cottages can also arrange for a qualified health and beauty therapist or hairdresser to visit your self catering cottage to make sure you look and feel a million dollars! A qualified babysitter can also be recommended.

The cottages are furnished to the very highest standard and provide guests with everything you require for a relaxing and enjoyable break. Each self catering cottage has a locally sourced breakfast welcome pack of all the essentials you need to get you started, including honey from our very own Kilpatrick Hills bees! For really organised guests, we can liaise with you in advance to arrange a full list of groceries (and pretty much anything else) to be there and unpacked, ready for your arrival. If you’re celebrating a special event, or are with a special person, we can arrange a luxury welcome gift in the form of chocolates or a bouquet of flowers.

We also have everything you need for our smaller guests from cots and highchairs to DVDs, toys and acres of play areas, with slides and swings, all very close to your self-catering cottage at Gavinburn.

Laundry facilities are provided on site, free of charge and there is ample car parking if you are entertaining visitors. We also welcome well-behaved dogs and there is stabling and fields if you wish to bring your horse!

No matter when you visit there is always something happening and if you visit during the day or night the city is always wide awake and welcoming. You can shop and sight see all day before hitting the restaurants, bars and clubs at night or take in a show at any one of our famous old theatres. We guarantee you will be desperate to visit again and again and again!

At Gavinburn Cottages you are always close to nature and the list of animals you will see during your stay can be endless. The farm is home to a small flock of sheep and a small herd of cattle. We also hope to have a pair of Highland “Coos” arriving very soon.

If you get out and explore there is also far more to see than the farm animals with the hills being home to a rich array of wildlife. Please see our wildlife section on our activities page for more details.

We will regularly update our website and social media pages with news of any new arrivals at the farm and don’t forget to leave us name suggestions for our animals when they arrive! There may even be prizes for the winning suggestions, so keep logging on!

This exciting event will take place soon although we’ve not been given final dates yet. We will endeavour to keep you all in the loop when we find out more.

We are eagerly awaiting all relevant consents to come in from West Dunbartonshire Council before we commence the project. We are indebted to the council and Visit Scotland for all their help in getting this exciting project off the ground.

Builders and architects are preparing final plans for the two, two bedroom cottages which will boast underfloor heating, cathedral ceilings, log stoves and patios to take advantage of the famous views. We are also working closely with our interior designer, Katy Rodgers of Fintry to ensure that the final decor rivals the views. A new children’s play area is also planned.

We apologise for the lack of interior photos on our lovely new site but we are still renovating the cottages with the help of interior designer Katy Rodgers of Fintry and will soon have photos of her magic for you to view. We’ve been busy working with local freelance designer Ramsay MacFarlane to develop our new brand identity and website. The process has been a pleasure and we’re delighted with the results – our logo and brand principles are perfect and the website is a cutting-edge work of art!

The Old Gavinburn Sign

Our new logo is based on a traditional script letter ‘G’ – we think you’ll agree it’s a far cry from the old sign that used to hang on the entrance gate! The new web-based font we’ve used as part of the brand bears a striking resemblance to the typeface on the old sign… coincidence?

The website features a fully responsive layout, allowing you to access the same information on multiple devices, no matter how small or large the screen may be – the layout will adjust itself to suit any format – good news for those browsing on a mobile phone, tablet or laptop – in fact, good news for everyone! You can see the responsiveness for yourself if you’re on a laptop computer – just re-size the browser window and you’ll see how the layout shifts to respond.

Auchentoshan At Night

There will be plenty of whisky tastings, tours and live music – plenty to entertain the whole family for the day – plus, it’s only just over a mile from Gavinburn!

Auchentoshan is one of Scotlands most popular malts and has won numerous international awards. So why don’t you pop in and visit them for a guided tour to see where and how the nectar is made. Gavinburn Cottage guests even get a slightly larger dram at the tastings than the ordinary visitors do, but don’t tell anyone!
